Aldersgate Rethinks Church

“Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; otherwise, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.” -Matthew 9: 17

Aldersgate Rethinks Church campaign is here. The scripture mentioned above sheds some light on the reasoning behind Aldersgate Rethinks Church. This scripture does not say that we are going to be throwing away the old wine that has been stored in old wineskins. What it says is that we should be using new wineskins to preserve new wine. Aldersgate has a rich and vibrant history of reaching out into the community in many and varied ways – through our numerous outreach efforts; through our wonderful music program; through our pre-school program and children’s ministry and through our ministry to the youth of our community, just to name a few. Aldersgate Rethinks Church is a campaign that is designed to build upon what is already here in some different ways – new wineskins for new wine.

In addition to our comtemporary worship service, called The Journey, Aldersgate Rethinks Church includes ministries which are designed to help people grow in their relationships and other areas of their lives where they are facing challenges. Divorce Care and Financial Peace are two prime examples.

In May 2010, we opened our church doors to the Family Promise homeless shelter ministry for the first time as part of the “rethink outreach” initiative. We are looking at every ministry in the church and rethinking ways to build on those wonderful ministries. We continue to rethink our music ministry, our children’s ministry, our youth ministry and our small group ministry. It’s an exciting time!
