if ur ...

if ur confused

Decisions are hard. Options swirl around us. What should I do? What do I want to do? What will make me happy? What needs to be done? Every day, each of us, faces a myriad of decisions. With some choices the stakes are low, such as when we’re trying to decide what to eat for dinner or what to wear to work. Other decisions carry higher stakes, such as (Whom should I marry? Where should I live? What kind of career should I choose?). The higher the stakes the greater the pressure to make “the right” decision.

When you have to make a major life decision, where do you turn for help? Friends? Parents? Co-workers? Therapist? All of these sources of help are good and beneficial. But there is one source whose wisdom and counsel have never steered anyone wrong. In Psalm 32:8 God promises, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.” It’s important to remember that just because you can’t see God, that doesn’t mean you can’t hear God. God speaks. He feels your confusion. And He desires to give you help in making decisions. Psalm 33:11a reminds us, “The counsel of the LORD stands forever…”

Pray this prayer for guidance:

Lord, I come to you now because I’m confused. I don’t know what to do. Help me. Guide me. Fill me with your ideas and thoughts. Fill me with good desires and plans. Help me to know your will for me. “May your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven.”
