…to begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ begins by understanding who He is and what He has done for you. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 tells us, “…Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures…He was buried, and…He rose again the third day.”
Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.” According to the Bible every person has sinned by failing to live according to God’s perfect standard. Each of us has broken God’s law.
What are the consequences of our sin? Romans 6:23 explains the consequences of our sin, “For the wages of sin is death…” Not physical death, but spiritual death. What is spiritual death? Spiritual death is eternal separation from God’s presence. Because we each have sinned, we find ourselves in a condition in which we are separated from God. Since I am not able to live up to God’s perfect standard of goodness, then God is the only one who could do something to “save” me and change my condition.
Romans 5:8 shares, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God knew there was nothing you could do to “save” yourself, so He sent Jesus Christ, His son, to die on the cross for your sins.
John 3:16 explains, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.” If we believe in Him (Jesus), then we will not perish.
Romans 10:13 promises, “…whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
If you desire to start a relationship with Jesus right now, you can call on Him and ask Him to save you from spiritual death by giving you eternal life.
You could pray something like this:
Lord Jesus, I come to you now. I confess that I have broken your law and sinned against you. I believe that you died on the cross for the sins I have committed and that you came back to life three days later. I ask you, Jesus Christ, to enter my life and become my Savior and Master. Please forgive me for all my sins and take me to heaven when I die. I want to follow you for the rest of my life; starting right now.
If you just prayed that prayer sincerely from your heart, then John 5:24 assures you, “…he who hears My word and believes on Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
Aldersgate offers a variety of Sunday School and weekday classes. In addition, we have many small groups that meet throughout the week for Bible study, prayer, support and fellowship.
